This past weekend, Chicago gun violence left 24 people shot and four dead. Among the four killed were 25 year-old Alan Richardson, 24 year-old Ivan Miller, 19 year-old Kerion Watson, and 23 year-old Devon Byrd. Chicago gun violence this weekend brings the city to over 1800 shooting incidents this year, and over 200 within the past month.

Following the weekend, five more people were shot across the city on Monday, but none fatally. Chicago’s shootings yesterday occurred as President Trump was in the city to give a speech at “the International Association of Chiefs of Police Annual Conference and Exposition”. President Trump commented how “Chicago has the toughest gun laws in the United States [which] doesn’t seem to be working too well”. The President said the “best way to reduce gun violence is to put criminals with firearms behind bars.”
