7 People Murdered in Multiple Chicago Shootings this Weekend, 48 More Wounded

This weekend saw seven people murdered in multiple shootings across the city of Chicago, leaving an additional 48 people wounded. Among the seven who were killed were 21 year-old Cornelius Jordan and 33 year-old Demetrius Flowers. The two men are added to the number of young black males who constitute the majority of deaths due to gun violence in Chicago. As of the end of July, Chicago had seen 1,197 shooting incidents, down 11% from 2018.
