Virginia Senate Shelves Assault Weapons Ban

Published by Matt Fishman on

Virginia’s Senate voted today to shelve a bill banning assault weapons. The bill, which recently passed the state’s house, would have made it illegal “for any person to import, sell, transfer, manufacture, or purchase an assault firearm.”

Although democrats control the Virginia Senate, four democratic senators voted against the bill.

Today’s vote will push the bill to 2021, allowing a year for judicial review.
