U.S. to Deploy Troops to Iraq
“Approximately 750” soldiers will deploy to Iraq in response to recent protests at the U.S. embassy in Baghdad. Protesters marched on the United States embassy yesterday in retaliation of U.S. air strikes in Iraq days prior, which targeted and killed Hizbollah militia fighters. Secretary of Defense Dr. Mark T. Esper said “deployment is an appropriate and precautionary action taken in response to increased threat levels against U.S. personnel and facilities”.
