Speaker Nancy Pelosi Authorizes Drafting of Articles of Impeachment for President Trump

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has officially authorized the House “to proceed with articles of impeachment”. In a televised address this morning, Nancy Pelosi said “the facts are uncontested, the President abused his power for his own political benefit” in his actions towards Ukraine. As such, the House Speaker added “the President’s failure to faithfully execute the law” must be answered as “the President is not the king; the people are the king.” Speaker Pelosi also referenced our founding father’s in her decision, and how they “created a constitutional remedy against a dangerous or corrupt leader, impeachment.”

President Trump responded to the announcement on Twitter, tweeting “that they are going to seek to Impeach me over NOTHING. They already gave up on the ridiculous Mueller “stuff,” so now they hang their hats on two totally appropriate (perfect) phone calls with the Ukrainian President.”

The articles of impeachment will now proceed to the House of Representatives for a vote.
