President Trump has signed an Executive Order authorizing the imposition of sanctions against Iranian officials and businesses operating “in the construction, mining, manufacturing, or textiles sectors of the Iranian economy”. Sanctions against those designated by U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Steven Mnuchin will block “any contribution or provision of funds, goods, or services by, to, or for the benefit of any person [designated’s] property and interests in property”. Secretary Mnuchin, in accordance with the Executive Order, has designated “eight senior Iranian regime officials who have advanced the regime’s destabilizing objectives” as well as “17 Iranian metals producers and mining companies” to be subject to sanctions. Additionally, the Executive Order bars entry into the United States of any Iranian who has been designated subject to these sanctions.

President Trump says these “punishing economic sanctions will remain until the Iranian regime changes its behavior.”
