President Trump and the FAA order grounding of all Boeing 737 Max 8 planes

Published by Matt Fishman on

Today, March 13, 2019 President Trump under the advisement of the FAA ordered the grounding of all Boeing 737 Max 8 planes (1). The order comes after the devastating crash of Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302, a flight which on Sunday March 10, 2019 went down, killing all 157 passengers and crew members (2). This most recent crash comes just over four months after the equally tragic crash of Lion Air Flight JT610, which crashed in late October of 2018, killing all 189 people on board (3). [Both flights were of the Boeing model 737 Max 8 (1, 3).] Boeing has released a statement today saying the company, “continues to have full confidence in the safety of the 737 MAX”, but “supports the decision by the FAA”(4).
