House Approves New 5G Bill

The United States House of Representatives has approved a new 5G bill known as the “Secure 5G and Beyond Act of 2019”. At the forefront of the bill is maximizing consumer privacy protection and communications security in the development of 5G across the U.S.. The bill will “require the President to develop a strategy to ensure the security of next generation mobile telecommunications systems and infrastructure in the United States and to assist allies and strategic partners in maximizing the security of next generation mobile telecommunications systems, infrastructure, and software”.

“Secure 5G and Beyond Act of 2019” passed the House with nearly unanimous consent, on a vote of 413-3. Representatives Thomas Massie, Justin Amash, and Clay Higgins were the sole three dissenting votes.
