Coronavirus in California

A person in California is confirmed to have the Coronavirus by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The person, “reportedly did not have relevant travel history or exposure to another known patient with [the Coronavirus]”. This brings the total number of Coronavirus cases in the United States to 15.

The CDC says “[m]ore cases are likely to be identified in the coming days, including more cases in the United States.”

To date, there have been 81,109 people confirmed with the virus including 2,761 deaths. Majority of the cases (78,191) and deaths (2,718) have occurred in China, however, recently more countries are becoming infected.

At this time, there is no vaccine to protect against the Coronavirus and no medications approved to treat it.
