Air Strike on Turkish Military Kills 3 Civilians in Syria

Today, a Turkish military convoy entering into Syria was attacked by an air strike killing three civilians and injuring twelve more. Although not directly stating who carried out the air strike, the Turkish Ministry of Defence say they made “repeated warnings… to the authorities of the Russian Federation,” and “strongly condemn [Russia for] this attack.” The air strike occurred in the Idlib region of Syria, where one year ago Turkey and Russia agreed to a deal making the region “a demilitarized zone.” The Syrian Government has responded to the air strike saying “the convoy contained weapons bound for insurgents” although not claiming responsibility for the attack. The Turkish Government has released a statement saying they “expect the necessary measures to be taken to prevent recurrance of such incidents.”
