U.S. Grants Nearly $1 Billion to Support Elderly and People with Disabilities
Today, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced $955 million in grants “to help meet the needs of older adults and people with disabilities as communities implement measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.”
The grants, through funds allocated by the CARES Act, will fund home-delivered meals, care services in the home, respite care, transportation to essential services, and other support systems.
As locations where many typically receive these services have closed due to COVID-19, these grants allow the elderly and people with disabilities to stay home and healthy during the pandemic.
