U.S. Awards $400 Million for Hiring 2,732 Police Officers Nationwide

Nearly $400 million has been awarded to law enforcement agencies across the nation “to hire 2,732 additional full-time law enforcement professionals”.

Of these 2,732 new police officers, 75 are for the City of Chicago; 86 are for Cincinnati; 71 are for Houston; and 100 are for New York City,

Funding comes from the COPS Hiring Program, which supports the hiring of entry level police officers “in order to… increase community policing capacities and support crime prevention efforts.”
