U.S. and UK Begin Trade Agreement Talks

A “formal launch of trade negotiations” has begun between the United States and the United Kingdom

Already “each other’s largest source of foreign investment”, the two countries hope to establish a free trade agreement which increases annual two-way trade; an amount which already equals over $230 billion.

Among negotiation points include the reduction or elimination of existent tariffs; barring measures that impede on digital data transfer, requiring the “installation of local computing facilities; and ensuring intellectual property rights related to trademarks, patents, and copyrights.

Talks are currently ongoing.
