President Trump Unveils Israel – Palestine Peace Plan

Today, President Trump announced his plan for achieving Israel and Palestine peace. President Trump says his “80 page proposal” provides a “conceptual map” towards a “realistic two-state solution”.

“This map will more than double the Palestinian territory and provide a Palestinian capital in eastern Jerusalem”. President Trump “sent a letter today to [Palestine] President Abbas [and] explained to him that the territory allocated to him will remain open for a period of four years” to allow time for the plan to be sufficiently reviewed. Additionally, while Palestine is proposed a capital in eastern Jerusalem, “Jerusalem will remain Israel’s undivided capital.” The peace plan is also “recognizing Israel’s sovereignty over all the Jewish communities in Judea and Sumeria.”

President Trump emphasized that “religious sites remain accessible to all faiths”, explaining how the peace plan will supposedly “ensure that all Muslims who wish to worship peacefully and pray at the Al Aqsa Mosque (also known as the Wailing or Western Wall) will be able to do so.”

President Trump says the plan will provide an “opportunity for the Palestinians to finally achieve an independent statehood of their own” which will reportedly cause “no Palestinians or Israelis [to] be uprooted form their homes”. To achieve these goals, the plan will direct “$50 billion worth of investment” to Palestine.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu remarked he has “agreed to negotiate peace with the Palestinians on the basis of [Trump’s] peace plan.” Palestinian President Abbas has yet to comment on the plan, but Palestinians have taken to the street to protest in Gaza.
