New Coronavirus Test will Provide Results within Hours

A new test to detect the coronavirus will provide “results within hours”.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued an emergency use authorization for the test as “it is reasonable to believe that the [test’s] known and potential benefits… outweigh the known and potential risks”.

California-based company Cepheid is developing the tests, with plans “to roll it out by March 30”.

Currently, 182,697 coronavirus tests have been given in the United States.
