FDA Warns Companies Claiming to Sell Cure for Hangovers

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued warnings to seven companies “whose products claim to cure, treat, mitigate, or prevent hangovers”.

One company, for instance, claims if you take their supplement “you will have much less of a hangover the next morning”. Another company sells a multivitamin on Amazon “specifically designed to reduce alcohol’s negative effects in the body”, going as far as saying their product “is a hangover prevention pill that works”.

The FDA says these products have not been properly evaluated to confirm if they are effective for their intended use, “or whether they have dangerous side effects or other safety concerns”.

These companies will have 15 days to state how they will “correct” their violations or risk legal action.
