United States Air Force spokesman Colonel Sonny Leggett tweeted: “[w]hile the cause of crash is under investigation, there are no indications the crash was caused by enemy fire.”

“As the matter develops”, Secretary of Defense Mark Esper commented, “we will update the media.”

When pressed on the pending 4,000 troops rumored to be leaving Afghanistan, Assistant to the Secretary of Defense Jon Hoffman said there is no update “on any change in our force posture in Afghanistan.”
